Natural forms of healthcare are growing in popularity among more and more families. Because chiropractic is a safe, natural, drug-free approach to healthcare, we have entire families come into our office to receive chiropractic care, ages ranging from infants to adults.
We begin seeing children as young as infant age because the birthing process can be very traumatic on those tiny bodies. As children begin to grow and develop, many of their developmental milestones, such as learning to crawl or walk, can impact their spinal health. As children further continue their growing, so does the stress and strain inflicted on their bodies. Kids begin to play sports, experience growth spurts, start school where they sit at desks all day, carry heavy backpacks, play with friends and family, etc..
Many spinal problems adults experience usually take years to develop, and more often than not, they begin during adolescent years. That’s why it’s important to start correcting and maintaining spinal health in children, so that they can grow into healthy adults. One of our favorite quotes is, “It’s better to grow healthy children, than to fix injured adults.”
Chiropractic care can also help with many common childhood conditions such as:
- Ear Infections
- Common Cold
- Acid Reflux
- Bed Wetting
It’s important to note that chiropractic doesn’t treat or cure these conditions specifically, rather it works to remove any blockages that may be occurring in the nervous system, which is most likely causing these issues to occur in the first place. All functions in the body are dependent upon your nervous system functioning correctly. Your brain continuously sends messages through the nerves, telling each organ in your body how to operate. So, when something is blocked, it’s going to be restricted from functioning properly. That’s why it’s essential to remove any occurring nerve interferences so the brain can communicate properly. Then your body can heal itself, as it was designed to do.
To be specific, here’s an explanation of how chiropractic helps with ear infections. First of all, a child’s Eustachian tube is different from an adult’s in that it’s smaller and more narrow, making it easier for fluid to be trapped, especially if the surrounding areas are placing pressure on it. What a chiropractor would do, is perform a very gentle upper cervical adjustment, which is around the neck, to help relieve any pressure that may be surrounding the Eustachian tube. Once the pressure is relieved, it can improve drainage, and the body will essentially be able to heal itself. No drugs necessary.
We do want you to keep in mind that several chiropractic adjustments are usually required to start seeing results. Chiropractic takes time to have an impact on the body, so it’s necessary to receive several treatments in order to experience the best results.
